Care close to home
Anesthesia access across Kansas
80%
of Kansas hospitals rely exclusively on CRNAs for anesthesia care.
Every Kansas hospital uses CRNAs to help patients receive timely anesthesia care close to home.
In many Kansas counties, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) are the only anesthesia providers. They help patients receive surgery, obstetrical care, trauma stabilization, and pain management close to home.
CRNAs support rural hospitals and healthcare facilities throughout the state. Their work helps communities maintain access to both routine procedures and urgent care without requiring patients to travel farther from home.
With rising healthcare costs and ongoing workforce needs, Kansas relies on an anesthesia model that fully uses the highly trained, independent anesthesia professionals already serving our communities.
Policy & patient care
Decisions that shape access
Legislative decisions directly influence how—and whether—patients can access anesthesia care in their communities. We are committed to working with legislators and staff to expand access in underserved regions and maintain the high safety standards Kansans expect.
Patient-centered, fiscally responsible policy helps healthcare facilities meet local needs. Our legislative resources cover anesthesia workforce data, education and training, safety outcomes, financial impact, and different models of anesthesia care.
We welcome questions about the role CRNAs play in Kansas healthcare and opportunities to discuss the needs of patients, providers, and rural hospitals.
